Imagine blackeyed peas with no color and when you cook them the broth is clear. They are not really white but a pale green. Dried they are cream colored. We don't eat dried peas, we plant them. One of the most popular white peas is called 'Cream 40.' Oh, and they are smaller than a blackeyed pea. A real delicacy and the veggie people tell me you can't sell them above the gnat line, people don't like them. I think they just never ate any. They are delicious. I was grown before I ate any. We ate crowder peas at home.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3679123700391465393.post-12644718613955952172011-06-22T12:24:36.597-05:002011-06-22T12:24:36.597-05:00Your blog is really nice! I'm fiddled with the easy, storebought melty stuff but haven't made the real stuff before. I've read directions here and there but would like to know how real people like yourself make it. I do remember, from spending part of my childhood in the Ozarks, we'd butcher the hogs and make big cauldrons of soap from the fat. It's nothing but warm, fuzzy kid memories at this point, though.SpeedKinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12996605965537083230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3679123700391465393.post-26770204137649666662011-06-21T07:53:25.231-05:002011-06-21T07:53:25.231-05:00I understand your frustration with computers. We will never take a computer to BestBuy either. My daughter brought her computer with her when she came for a visit a few years ago. Grampy was just starting to work on computers so took it to BestBuy to see if they could fix it. The charged him $69 to tell him it couldn't be repaired, that she needed to buy a new one. Grampy gave the daughter one of our computers to take home and a few days later he changed out the DVD player in her computer, hit the button and it fired right up. It's been working great since that day.

Your flower pictures are gorgeous, especially the red one.Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13687590785527530194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3679123700391465393.post-89256086660517704962011-06-21T06:40:59.076-05:002011-06-21T06:40:59.076-05:00Good morning Glenda ~ Computers can be such a pain...Good morning Glenda ~ Computers can be such a pain. Glad you got your MIL's up and running again.

Your daylilies are beautiful and I love your new garden patch. How nice to see that every day.

I've never made real soap, but have made hand milled soap (grating non-scented soap and melting it with water and other ingredients, such as essential oils. You've got me wanting to have another go at it. I am in awe of you and others who really make soap using lye, goats milk, etc. What a joy and talent. Your family is blessed to receive your soaps.

Well, I need to get us some breakfast so that we can head outside before it is too miserable out.

Have a great day and happy soap making.

FlowerLadyFlowerLady Lorrainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17678852154334714784noreply@blogger.com
