In Bloom this Morning

These are Red Cored Chantenay Carrots in the barrel planter.

 This peony is just opening and is very fragrant;
wish they all were but  they are not.

Wabash is still looking very sharp.

Unknown heirloom iris.  This one was here when we moved in 1992. The previous owner said she got it from  another neighbor and they used them in her daughter's wedding so I am guessing 45 years at least.

This is what happens when it rains and the iris are heavily laden with blooms.

Swingtown iris and peonies in Well House bed.
That is Old Blush rose near the other building.  The lilies aren't quite there yet.

This clump of iris is Bride's Halo.  It is on the east  side of the driveway entrance.  I recently uncovered it from the Cheat Grass (note more in the ditch).

Close up of Bride's  Halo.  I love this one!

One of my few remaining roses.  It is a Dr. Griffiths but I don't recall the name....Prairie something or the other.

Should be lots of poppies later .

I believe this is rosa 'Felicia', very fragrant.  A

Hybrid Musk type.

  1. You've sure got some beauties there Glenda. I love your irises.

You've changed your blog look and I had to look again to make sure it was you.:-)

    1. I got tired of that header not going all the way across!
May not have a header picture anymore.

  2. Great pictures. I love poppies but the last of Mom's are finally gone.

  3. You have inspired me.
I must have a barrel planter!

I have a granite wash tub, but I would need to drill drain holes, right?

    Enjoyed visiting,

    1. I do think you would need drainage holes. Hope you have a drill and bit!

      Thanks for visiting.

  4. Your irises are beautiful. Don't you hate when stems lie down? I am thinking of cutting a bunch of forked sticks to prop up leaners (in my spare time). There is an iris here with a huge seed pod that I am watching.

I did the same thing about the header, stopped a picture that didn't go all the way across. Later I looked at the Template and determined that the blog width was 1120 pixels and devised a pic just that width.

    1. Thanks for the tip on the header. I just did that but I still wish the picture wasn't quite so big.

I usually snap off the spent blooms so haven't had seed pods. I do leave seed pods of the daylilies.

  5. Glenda,

Beautiful flower pictures. I like how your lined your barrel with fencing to help keep the critters away from your carrots. I planted poppies in flower pots. I think the rain washed the seeds away.

    1. You may have poppies just not where you put them! I hope so.

  6. Often we have run out and cut a big bouquet of iris, just before a storm. At least we get to enjoy them in the house. Seems like a storm always comes along when they are in full bloom.

Love your white peony. I saw one at a garage sale a few weeks back. The perfume greeted me from all the way down the driveway.

    1. I picked a stalk or two that were laying down. The fragrance of some is almost more than I can stand inside.

  7. Not much blooming here - and the high winds have stripped the crabapples of their flowers. Frost last night. Hope it's the last one. Have to cut the rhubarb, it's getting huge. Had hoped for some much-needed rain to plump up the stalks, but no luck. Love looking at all those flower pics.

  8. I sure hope we don't have a frost....but we could! I risked planting all my plants yesterday....
