Day Two of Outside Work!

I am a happy gardener today.  I have mowed the entire yard in a one day period (a 3 hour job) and today the real test:  Using  my ll.5 lb. string trimmer.  Happy to report I used it for about l.5 hrs and got a lot  done.  Still a lot to go but I believe I can do it.

Two weeks ago I was about to give up.

These are some pics of the areas I trimmed this morning.

This is an heirloom rose that a gardener on one of the Garden Web sites told me several years ago that must have a highly acid soil to do well.  I have fed it religiously for a long time and look at that nice green color this spring!  Very pleased  with it.

First Clematis to bloom each year on the garden fence.

Long shot of the area with the first blooming clematis and the later blooming Harlow Care.  That is a very pale lemon yellow
 clump of
Asiatic lilies near the mower.

This is ugly but at least now trimmed in front of the compost pile, hoping the poppy coming on will help hide it.

 Freshly trimmed hosta Guacamole.

  1. Congrats to you on your garden work. I know just how you feel. I went out and mowed the other morning and was so happy to have that done. I do still need to weed wack, all in good time.

I look forward to seeing your rose in bloom and to watch everything wake up from it's winter sleep, rewarding you with lots of color.

  2. I'll bet it felt so good to do all that outside work. Even if you're really, really tired tonight, it will be a good tired. And to know you can still do it? That's the best feeling of all!

  3. Happy your weather is cooperating for you, Glenda. And you sure got a lot done! I certainly couldn't handle a strimmer that weighed over 11 pounds, not even on a good day. Hope to get some more seeds sown under the basement lights this week. I need more salad greens.... Take care.

  5. I have a feeling the rose is going to be a beauty. Everything is green and healthy. It's a good thing to see the things from last year and years before coming up and doing well. Phil

  7. It's so important NOT to over do it!!! One day at a time. You are only going to have set backs if you do too much at once. You body needs to have the chance to get stronger. Believe me I just got over a being in the hospital with congested heart failure. Thankfully I'm doing good, but just taking one day at a time. I'm behaving myself cause I don't want to go back there any time soon. That what you should be doing too1 the gardens aren't going any where. They will be there for you when your stronger! xxoo
