New Computer - Thanksgiving

The cold front arrived along with about 2 inches of rain and lots of thunder and lightening. Today is just drizzly and 30°.

Children and families got in safely and are at Grandparents now. I just baked a strange looking pecan pie and a pumpkin pie for our dinner tomorrow.

I was just text-ed that they sat down to eat at 3:18 for their 2 PM dinner! I am not surprised. It was a good decision for us to stay on the farm.

I bought a computer a couple of days ago. I got the HP I was looking at online. I opened the box and decided I better wait until after Thanksgiving to attack that. Our son had it up and running in about 15 minutes.....I can use both now and get on the internet on both! He just stacked the towers to the left of the desk. I will have to get used to the new setup.

It is now Sunday morning, November 28. Company all gone, all leftovers mostly gone.
Have a pot of turkey broth ready to strain and make into soup or freeze.

Big Hits: Peanut butter balls, Flowerlady's Oatmeal Craisin cookies.(sent recipe home with both kids), Butterball turkey (the moistest one I have ever cooked), and the coconut cream pie and pecan pie. You never know.......

The grandkids had the most fun running the tops of the big round bales east of the house. It was fun to watch, the dog ran right along with them.

Now life will get back to normal.

  1. It looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. All that talk of food is making me hungry, and I've not even had coffee yet. (It's about ready to start perking.)

New computers are always 'fun' to learn, NOT, they can be frustrating to the max.

We finally had some rain last night, but we need a lot more. It's in the low 80's during the day high 60's at night.

Hope your day is really nice.

    Love and hugs ~ FlowerLady

  2. Glad to hear you got your new computer. Did you make that collage picture with the software that comes with it? I've been seeing the commercials where they show picture editing and they make it sound so easy.

And here I worried that kids would forget to be inventive in their play because they all seem to be hooked up to electronic games these days! Your grandkids look like they're having a blast.

  3. So happy you had a cozy holiday with the family. That coconut cream pie looks amazing. I like how you used picassa (I've got to download that and try the program sometime!) to make that collage of the kids on the hay. That must have been really fun for them. Hope that new computer works out well for you. -- Only 19F here this morning and all the rhody leaves are rolled up tightly. brrr

  4. I am so glad that you had a great Holiday with everyone. Your pie looks amazing. I had a Butterball turkey and it was my best also, so moist, and it "fell" apart so I just broke everything apart and plated it. I boiled down everything yesterday, and today I have to strain it and de-fat it some.
I have some not very good oranges, and I think tomorrow I will try to attempt Orange Marmalade. My jelly making skills are not too good, but I can do it, just takes more brains than the jelly....
New toy, that is always a good thing. I have to have some quiet time to hook up things. have fun with the new computer and bring out the inner child in you.
Its been very cold here, had a little bit of ice last Monday, and we are supposed to get some snow tonight or Monday morning? How much you never know.
Anyway, Glenda, have a great weekend and enjoy the week.

  6. Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Coconut pie-my fav-it is beautiful!!

Like the way you did the pics of the grandkids-neat!

We got a much needed rain-probably close to 4 inches all together over 2 days. Windy here today.

My graduating class (57) has a monthly get together down here for lunch and we always have a good turnout-a few come down from Springfield area. We are going to Golden Corral in Springfield tomorrow as we have several from out class living around in that area. Supposed to have a big turnout-have one of their rooms to use. I plan to hit Hobby Lobby and Michaels while there!

  8. Love the way you did the pictures of the grandkids, how'd ya do that? Our leftovers are almost gone, still a little dressing left. I made potato soup last night out of the leftover mashed potatoes, just adding some of the leftover cheese ball and a few bacon bits to make it taste like I'd actually cooked! After all the baking I did last week, I'm resting up now for the Christmas season. Did you hear the holiday bell ring...here we go!!!
