December 20 - December 31

I think I set a record for no journal entries.....It has been a busy 11 days!

This our weather right now.  This is taken from the porch looking south,

What has been happening on the farm....
First of all, we had Christmas with our daughter before  Christmas....they left on Christmas Eve. I made lots of jams and breads for them all.

They left on the 24th

Our son brought his three down on the 25th.....on the way to a skiing trip to Colorado.  They spent the night and left by 5 am the next morning.  The middle one, Jen, 12, stayed the rest of the week with us.  She didn't enjoy the long skiing days.

They spoiled Sugar while here.  They got her up in their laps in my kitchen chair....daily.  That is a little habit I will have to break this week.

They packed up everything and left by 5 AM this morning.

I am now out of bread....almost out of jam  and will be baking either later today or tomorrow.

I took a bad cold yesterday but am some better this morning.  I am taking massive doses of Vitamin C which I think is helping.

Happy New Year to all my Friends in Blog Land!

  3. It's funny how being a little off schedule can bring on a cold . . . bet that's what happened to you. It was nice that you had family with you over Christmas. That always makes the holiday special!

Your preserves and bread all look wonderful and I'll bet were much appreciated by everyone.

Hope your cold disappears quickly. Best wishes for a wonderful New Year.

P.S. Looks like you have about as much snow on the ground as we do up here in northern Minnesota. What's wrong with that picture?

  4. Sorry you've got a 'bug', Glenda. Keep popping those vitC tabs. I hope you get well soon.

Goodness, you sure give Santa's elves a run for their money - you work just as hard as they do this time of year. Looks like apple and peach jam, maybe? And something even darker in there. I'll bet the kitchen smelled great that day. Glad you had a nice Christmas. Happy New Year.

    1. Apple butter was the darker one. There was also some strawberry so that could have been a dark one. It was the most dear since I used the last of the strawberries and wouldn't you know, I dropped the largest jar on the back porch and broke it!

  8. Well, if it hadn't been for the fact that you've been commenting on my blog, I'd have been shooting you some "R U OK?" e-mails. I knew this would be a busy time for you.

You hang in there and take good care of yourself, if one must have a cold, it's probably better to have it now than at the height of garden preparation season. Hugs to you and yours, and here's to next year: May it be so much better than 2012. XOXOXOXO
