A Shot in the Sky

Up at my usual 3:30 AM.  Still pretty warm out.  I think our cold front is due in later today.  I am sure glad we worked the cows yesterday instead of waiting. DH is still sleeping.  Sugar is sleeping by the little heater in the kitchen....her favorite place.

Temperature is 53°; tonight is predicted to be 22°

When I took the pictures of the cows, I heard what I thought was people talking....then I realized it was geese, lots of geese, coming towards us.  I just angled the camera up to the sky, couldn't see anything at all and snapped.  I love the results.

I am using it on my monitor for now.

We have nothing special planned for the weekend.  I want to do some cooking and try to get DH well.  He is supposed to call the doctor Monday if he isn't improved.  I know banana pudding is on the list; he loves that.  I need to check the freezer for more ideas.

Hope you all have a super weekend.

  1. A relaxing (and pudding-filled) weekend at home will likely be good for you both. And beautiful photo! :)

    1. The pudding was very tasty and I am not a pudding person. DH sure is though.

Thank you for the photo comment. It was certainly a 'point and shoot' photo!

  2. Wow, I don't feel so bad getting up at around the same time as you do. I was in bed around 7:30 though last night, which seems like my norm lately.

It is warm and humid down here, some cooler weather would really be wonderful while it is still winter.

    Love your photo of geese.

May your DH feel healing love and strength flowing through and surrounding him. Your banana pudding will be good for him and whatever else you decide to fix to nourish him.

Love and hugs to you both ~ FlowerLady

    1. I start preparing for bed by 7 PM. I often read in bed but am usually asleep by 8:30. When it get dark, that seems like bedtime to me.

  3. Hope you and DH feel better soon. There's lots of sick people up here, too. I meant to ask on yesterday's post - just how many calves were in those pics? I hope you get good prices when you sell.

Just over 1/2" of rain yesterday and 50F out right now - heading near 60 later on. Then the cold and (hopefully) snow will return. All the old stuff from Christmas week has melted.

Pudding sounds good. I've been making lots of Greek yogurt lately, nice and thick and laced with jam. Take care.

    1. There were 21 in this group but we turned back some smaller ones and lots didn't both to come in. I couldn't really tell you the entire total. The picture included cows, bulls and calves so maybe 45 or so total.

Greek yogurt sounds good. I am milking again so I need to make some yogurt soon.

  4. I'm up early too. Last night I was sleeping by 9pm and after 8 hours I'm up. I've got to get myself on a sleep schedule that works better with the world we live in!!!!

    1. My schedule works for the world I now live in.....we got so used to the 3am up time when we were milking and I can't seem to shake it.

  5. We all must have a case of the earlies, I have been up the last week on and off from around 3 am to 5 am. I have been waking up to sinus headaches, so I'm up to put the cool mist humidifiers on and a pot of water to simmer for moisture. Not much else helps me. The air here is so very dry. I think one reason we have so many sick here, because of the air. I have not been sick with any flu or colds, hope I don't.
I hear geese flying over in the middle of the night here. They go out to feed in the corn stubble west of town. I also hear snow geese, also.
My yogurt I made with that jersey milk turned out beautiful. The flavor is unmatched. I made a greek style yogurt and added some strawberry flavored gelatin to it and then added strawberries later after it cooled. It is awesome! Pudding sounds awesome too. Do you make that from scratch or boxed?
Please have a healing weekend and please take care of hubby. This stuff knocks people off of their feet.
    Hugs

    1. Glad you all aren't sick.

What do you use to culture your Greek yogurt? I finally splurged and bought some and it was delicious. Should I buy it again to use as a culture?

I make everything from scratch. I just use the BH&G recipe for vanilla cream pie. We don't like the flat taste of the pudding recipes. Now I have 4 egg whites I need to use in something....maybe an egg white omelet? Never done that before.

    2. I use culture that I started buying from Midwest Brewing supplies in Minneapolis. I have had the best luck with this culture, and I have bought a lot of cultures from places including the health food store. The last batch I bought from the health place was not too good, and I ruined a few batches. It turns very creamy and thick like Greek yogurt. If you used the Greek yogurt as a starter, then continue on. It would be the same as with this culture. When I get some more, I can sure send you some envelopes to try. I have been very pleased with it.
I will have to try homemade pudding, never tried that before.

    3. I bought a tub of Chobani and used that for starter. These Greek yogurts have extra cultures and pro-biotics so I'm assuming they are better for us than the regular yogurt types. Either way, it's yummy.

  6. Haven't been to visit in awhile, we are covered up with parent issues right now. Sorry to hear DH is sick, dangerous to overdo... hope he is a good patient! We are supposed to get snow and possibly ice tonight, hope they are wrong about the ice!

    1. Joy I hope the parent issues are now resolved.....if they ever can be at a certain point in life.

We are supposed to get the same; it is raining here now and the temp dropped from 53 this morning to 35° now. Freezing will begin soon. I hope the rains just turn to snow instead of ice accumulating!

He is being a good patient; I think he feels bad enough that he isn't fighting it. I am going out with him in the mornings so he doesn't have to be outside as long.

  8. Glenda,

A relaxing weekend sounds like a prescription for DH, and maybe some home cooked soup! Banana pudding sure sounds delightful.
    Stay warm, and take care.

  9. If I could just make myself go to bed as early as you do, I'd love to get up at your hour every morning. The days when I do wake early, I feel like I get so much done and have a real jump start on the day. Always feels better than if for some reason I don't get to bed until late . . . which means a late start the next day. I've always needed at least 8 hours of sleep a night, 9-10 is better.

Both hubby and I love pudding. I've got plenty of eggs right now so I really should make some pronto!

  10. Hope your hubby is feeling better soon. The weather is getting wintry here now with snow and sleet. Hope it doesn't get too bad.
Love your sky shot and I see the geese!
    Have a nice weekend!
