Up again at 2:30 AM, but slept in my chair a bit. This is not unusual for me at all.
Today is a warm day, but cloudy and windy....rain supposed to be moving in tonight.
We made a run into Willard for me to get my hair cut and to pick up a primer bubble for my Stihl trimmer. Thankfully our local Ace Hardware had one. Now I just need to get it put on. I hope Max is just buying high test gas for the cans. A Stihl serviceman told me that the cheaper gas destroys the plastic bubbles.
I got the east end of the kitchen garden tilled a couple of days ago using my trusty little Merry Tiller. I will have to use the larger one with slasher tines because of dead long grasses on the west end. I am pleased. I don't think I have done a fall till in a very long time.
I took this picture a few days ago. It appealed to me.

We have traded out the hummingbird feeder for the winter birds. It didn't take them long to find it. They prefer all black oil sunflower seeds! When that feeder is empty they will come to the song bird mix.....and only then.
Chickens
I am going to try using a timer in the hen house. I ordered two very cheap and simple ones......no directions. I must be mechanically challenged because I had to search the internet to find how to set the blasted thing! I am using it in the kitchen tonight to check it out. I am shooting for 15 hours of light.
Max is out feeding hay.

I like that photo too of the birds sitting in the top of the bare trees.
ReplyDeleteIt's warm here, but there has been a nice breeze. After a couple of weeks of rain, these past two days of sunshine and blue sky has been really nice.
Happy Christmas holidays ~ FlowerLady
We are finally back to normal weather for December. More rain predicted though and we don't look forward to that.
DeleteYou remember the Hitchcock move The Birds. I always think of that when gazillions of starlings fly over or land in a nearby tree.
Heh! I took a picture a lot like that last winter, of the birds that all lit in the Hackberry trees near the garden fence.
ReplyDeleteI have a kitchen timer that, when I have to change the battery, I have to go find the instructions they sent me in an email to reset the time. Something about holding one button down and pressing another at the same time, put it in a paper bag and wave it around above your head while marching and squawking like a chicken...
We are having rain since the middle of Saturday night. I was up at 2:30 Sunday morning, too....
My setting was real simple to do once I searched the internet for the timer! It is manual, no digital anything. However the door bell has since failed! Blast.
DeleteGlenda, we had to replace our wireless doorbell and Hubs found out if you mount the ringer button on metal, it will short out. So he found a place on wood to put the new one and it's been working fine for about a year.
DeleteHey, where did my yesterday comment go? Darn Google! Anyway, I too use a timer on the lights in the basement over my plants and seedlings. I have to figure it out every December when I first use it. I really should write down the instructions. LOL Thankfully no chicken squawking necessary.
ReplyDeleteI have an extra timer and I never thought about my plant lights. Great idea. I always have Max turn them off for me since I am in bed before him and he often forgets.......
DeleteYour small engines need ethanol-free gasoline.
ReplyDeleteI have been extremely disappointed with Stihl in the weed eater department.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
