I hadn't changed our bedroom coverlet for a very long time and thought I was really tired of a coverlet....wanted a bedspread. Bad mistake. I bought one online. The spread is exactly what was represented and the colors were good so that I wouldn't have to repaint. We tried sleeping under it for two weeks. We both hated it and had to pile on additional covers to stay warm. It was extremely heavy, like sleeping under a cold lead blanket. Then, it was much harder to make the bed...the thing traveled to the foot and rested on the floor.
Then I got this bright idea to try to use it as a throw on the hundred year old sofa (really not quite that old) and that will be its new home. It may have saved me the cost of a new sofa....at least for now. The wall isn't blue; it is an off-white color.
Do you ever do that? I move bed covers around pretty often. I moved our old blue print coverlet back home. I did have to change out a picture with a blue border but I had one. We slept under our warm, light fluffy coverlet last night. It felt good.
That's it for decorating and interiors....I don't do it well and really don't have a lot of interest in that area. I just want a change now and then.
Glenda ~ I love that coverlet and since it didn't work out on your bed, it looks fantastic on your sofa. Love your wooden side table with the glass door and one drawer. Very nice. And look, no dust! I've got to vac and dust around here today so that is will look nice again.

Ditto on that nightstand. Love it :-)
ReplyDeleteI, too, am on board with the nightstand. What a nice piece with a lot of character!
ReplyDeleteFunny story behind that nightstand. Many, many years ago I needed a project to refinish in Home Ec and I asked my paternal Grandmother for a piece she had in her basement stacked with old magazines....she wouldn't let me have it; she was using it. So we had to go to town and look in a used furniture store....this is what we ended up with. It was old when we bought it and I have had it since 1955. Ask me if she was my favorite Grandma..............I could tell you stories.
ReplyDeleteGlenda, you should talk about your favorite Grandma. Love to hear them stories.
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job refinishing that. I've done plenty of that in my day. I always hated it because it was such a dirty job (Was Mike Rowe even born then?) but it gave me so much satisfaction to see the beauty of the piece when the wood was clean and glowing. Great choice of project, too. Love it.
It's getting harder and harder to find good pieces at decent prices.
Also excellent decision to put the quilt on the sofa. Looks great and the pillows really pull everything together. Who says you're not good at decorating?
You go,girl!
Ilene, she wasn't a favorite! That was me being sarcastic. She was my least favorite person in the entire world. A grandma who wouldn't let me touch her flowers....I still remember picking an aster and her yelling "don't pick the flowers".
ReplyDeleteThat quilt looks like it belongs on your couch. I love it! I like your other furniture, too.
