I actually finished a project! This is the little drop-leaf table and chair I mentioned a while back. I hate painting white. It took one base coat and two top coats to get a good cover over the dark stain. I had to rough sand the finish and then used an oil base coat of white before the two top coats of high gloss enamel. I think I may do a little design in the corners of the drop-leaf. Of course all my acrylic paints are a l000 years old so will have to get new everything to do it.

Now I have no idea where to put it; at least I got something out of the garage. DH has been threatening to sell or junk any remaining furniture I have out there.
I think I got good news at the dentist. After two sets of x-rays, he decided it is not a tooth issue but a sinus infection. The root touches the sinus in that area. Another possibility is the early start of an abscessed tooth but no sign yet. I am now on 10 days of amoxicillin and prescription Clariton -D for ten days. I never take much medicine so I will probably feel pretty zoned out for a few days. It is still better than loosing a jaw tooth!
Remember the grasses I burned off and, in turn, scorched the surrounding iris and perennials?............
Well, the grasses are greening up nicely and I believe the rest are going to survive. I will be watching for bloom.

Here is a picture of the some of the girls. They are giving us 12 eggs a day! I believe another angel food cake/lemon sponge cake is in the future.

That little table and chairs are just darling, Glenda. Can't wait to see it decorated. Don't you love making something cast-off look charming again?
ReplyDeleteYour iris are looking fine, way advanced of mine.
This morning it's 27 degrees, ice on the birdbath and hard frost everywhere. I had to toss a blanket over the WS jugs and lettuce bins last night. For days it was 20+ degrees above average and now 15 degrees below. My poor plants....
Your table and chair look wonderful. I love that country look, it's more my style than just about any other. You did a great job. Post a picture if you do any painting on it too, pretty please.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you did not lose a tooth. I've had sinus infection make me feel like a toothache too. Eat some yogurt to keep up the good bacteria in your system while taking the antibiotic. I hope you are soon feeling much better.
Your gardens are looking good and so do your girls. 12 eggs a day is great.
Have a wonderful weekend ~ FlowerLady
Your chairs and table are adorable! Loving the garden photos too!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone; I sometimes forget to tell you all how much I love your taking the time to visit and comment.
ReplyDeleteFlowerLady, good idea. I wonder if my homemade buttermilk would do the same thing.
Thanks for the comment on the table. We got it many, many years ago from a neighbor of the in-laws. We used it in the other farmhouse but haven't used it since I bought an antique table for this kitchen.
Kris, I think my fruit trees have survived unscathed. I bit into the apricot and peach tiny fruit and they were green and sound all the way through........still keeping my fingers crossed. I hope you didn't loose anything. This is a nervous time of year for gardeners!
Wow, Glenda, I want some of your creativeness and energy! You get up early, milk cows, tend chickens, make all kinds of things from your milk and eggs, and still have time to paint tables and such! I love your table and how you painted it! The gateleg table we have was painted white over green. Some of the green is showing in spots, but I kind of like that.
ReplyDeleteI hope your mouth/sinuses are feeling better. I don't know if buttermilk has the same good bacteria as yogurt. Have some of each. Have you ever made your own yogurt?
I'm sorry you can't grow bulbs there. I sometimes envy people in other zones, but I imagine there are good and not so good things about wherever you live. I love your property and what you've planted there.
