Ordered Seeds

Above freezing here with a heavy mist that has the drive wet. Still predicting snow for later in the week.

I had a very sleepless night and finally just got up around 1 AM and went to my nest in the kitchen and read. I dozed a little but still feel very sleep deprived. Have no idea what that is about But am discontinuing the Fish Oil capsules just in case....

I am happy to report I did list what I want to grow this year and how much canning and freezing and maybe dehydrating I want to do. I ordered the seeds this morning from Pinetree Seeds. I (naturally) got more than I intended but most will keep several years....got a little carried away with vinca and zinnia seeds too. I failed to save seeds last year on almost everything.

Shipping was $6.95 and I can't drive to town and shop around any cheaper and then there is my time! I count it as pretty valuable (to me at least).

Kri, I ordered Dwarf Blue Curled Kale
Denim, I also ordered L.I. Cheese Squash (won't plant it this year though)

I am also going to try a new tomato that is good for canning, Heinz Classic Processor Tomato.

Pickling Cucumbers....I want to do much more Bread and Butter Pickles. I can eat a jar of those in a week!

I won't bore you with all the rest.......

DH is out of mysteries, so he is prompting me to get off the computer and get ready to go to the library.

RANDOM PIC OF THE DAY

All the yellow cats adore Biscuit and vice versa. Sometimes all three are nuzzled up next to him. He is in hog heaven (or would that be dog heaven)

  2. I've been shilly-shallying over my seed order for weeks. I'd go online here - they'd have a couple I wanted, I'd go there - maybe some others. This other one would have 1 or 2. I got dizzy. I was frustrated that I couldn't just go SOMEwhere and buy everything I wanted. So I went to your Pinetree Garden Seeds, Glenda. I just started clicking - LOL. Yeah, I made some compromises but what the hey. I didn't buy as much as you since my shipping was only 3.75. I ordered the Redbor Kale. Would love to swap some of that for your blue curled kale... Now, like you, I watch for my seeds... :-D

  3. Let me know how your kale works out...I've ordered the same thing because DH just loves kale--he adds it to everything!

It's nice to see a sweet kitty picture today. Thanks--I needed it.

Biscuit seems like a real keeper :-)

  4. What a cute picture. I love bread and butter pickles too. I eat them like candy. I know it's not the recommended way of canning but I have several jars from buying pickles and I save them and can my pickles and peppers in them. Been doing it for over 30 years and no problems.

  5. I love it when cats and dogs are friends. Our cat and dog just give each other the old fish-eye. I think the cat would warm up to the dog if he wasn't so frightened of her.

Been messing around with my seeds, too, and now I'm overwhelmed. I'm soooo looking forward to spring....

  6. Love the dog and kitty photo, absolutly too sweet.
I am having seed overload at the moment. I don't want to over do it, as I physically am not sure how I am going to do this year, but I want to try some new things, more herbs, and then my standbys like tomatoes, and peppers, some squash, I am going to get some LI cheese and plant a few in the back lot to let them wander around and just see what they do.
I do know that I will do more dehydrating, and be more selective in canning what we use.
Take care Gld, and have a great week. It is supposed to snow here tomorrow, (Wed) 2-5 inches. Yuck!

  7. The bird bath pic is awesome!
I have placed my order too, now to stalk the mailbox daily! I'll have to arrange the packets, re-think the garden layout, fret over what I didn't order and finally spring will really be hare and I can actually plant! Oh Glory Day!
Since I placed my order I have received 2 more catalogs, they must know I would look at them and be tempted to order just one more variety of cucumber, squash or lettuce! How do they know? ;-)
    Have a great week!

  8. I still have lots of vegetable seeds from last year. I haven't decided which annuals I want to start from seed inside. Some years I do, others, I wait and plant outside.

Biscuit and the cat look like great buddies.
